About the Artist

Chico Augusto is a sculptor, designer and poet based in Salvador, Brazil. Originally hailing from the Northeastern Brazilian city of Fortaleza, Chico has since made Salvador, the cultural capital of Brazil, his home for the past three decades. A distinguished artist for over 30 years, Chico works with various metalworking disciplines   to create work that ranges from large and small-scale sculptures to furniture, or what he calls "functional art". He has also worked with barbed wire, cement, tree roots and leaves as well as other mediums. His work has been commissioned by public institutions, corporations and individuals both in Brazil and abroad.  Chico has had exhibitions featured in and outside of Brazil, including in Paris, France and Switzerland. His work is included in the collections  of the Brazilian Museum of Modern Art (MAM) in Bahia, the French-Brazilian Bank in Paris,  SULFAB, the Dannemann Foundation in Switzerland, among others. 

Chico is also an accomplished poet. He is set to release his first book of poems entitled "Epifania (Epiphany)", a collection of nearly 500 unpublished poems written over the past ten years that touches on emotional, metaphysical and philosophical topics.
